Mean exhaust

Run straight pipes with some 18" x 4" tips. Do not allow the actual pipe to extend more than an inch into the tips for welding. This gives you the largest echo chamber possible...
Had that same deal on my '07 GT Vert....woke up the entire neighborhood....had no drone, and would be just low enough to sneak by the law when needed.

Contrary to what your high schools peers may think, you want to go fast, not look and sound fast.
An SLP Loudmouth cat-back is loud enough to impress the high school seniors and not loud enough to alert every LEO in a 5 mile radius. Loudmouths, with no cats or an off road X pipe or straight pipes will wake the dead as well as your parents every time you try to sneak out of the house.
I just read a study that shows 20% of all high school students have hearing damage from walking around 24/7 with their ear buds on all the time. A real loud exhaust will take care of the other 80%.

Yup theres good sounding exhaust and just 2 far exhaust for the street. If you are super charged or some kind on forced induction I would say to dump it (for track use) but for the street A sweet set good mufflers always sounds the best. I hate that crackle when you let off it with straight pipes or crappy mufflers (on the streets). Maybe flowmasters or just hunt online for the different sounds of the different mufflers.

Here is my 94 gt,
Long tube headers catless O/R H pipe flowmaster super 44s
Note if I wanted a little deeper louder tone I could cut the 2 1/2 inch tips off and weld on some 3 or 4" tips . also I should mention these were just short 3500 rpm revs, the exhaust really comes to live about 4k and above.

Stick your head out the window and scream....that will be just as useful for performance as putting a loud obnoxious exhaust on a 2V GT.
Design an exhaust for best FLOW not noise and actually benefit from changing your exhaust. Do some calculations and determine the muffler SCFM required for your motor.

Youtube does wonders when looking for the exhaust you want.
Just make sure you stay away from O/R midpipes and SLP combos.
I say leave your stock h and do a muffller delete, sounds real rumbly.
I had a BBK X pipe and Flowmaster 40's on my 2002 GT and it was way to raspy for my taste.
