Default brake shield broke off ? Clicking noise ?

I do not know how or when, but my brake shield on the drivers side front is gone, the bottom part is still attached but is bent pretty bad. Also before noticing this I was hearing a clicking noise, I suspected bad bearings. I wiggled the wheels, I had the front passenger wheel give a little play so I changed the wheel hub and the noise seemed to occur less often. Now the noise comes back but only occurs when I go over a speed bump or take a turn, but only sometimes. When I apply the brake the noise stops. Any ideas ?

Make sure the remaining bits of the brake shield aren’t coming into contact with the tire or rotor. That could cause your clicking sound. I would also pick up a new one at rockauto.com, your local auto parts store, or junk yard. They are there for a (safety) reason.

I’d also try jacking up the front end by the control arms on both sides, turning the wheel to various positions including full lock on both sides and spinning the front wheels to see if you can reproduce the clicking noise. If you can reproduce that way, then it should be pretty easy to diagnose what the cause is.

Good luck...
