Default SCT Tuner-Worth the Buy?

As the title says, I am interested in purchasing a tuner for my 1996 GT. I want to hear from people who have used it, or even better, may have results such as faster 1/4 times or improved fuel economy, or even a dyno spreadsheet. I would like to know that the value of buying a tuner from SCT is worth paying nearly $400, with free tunes for life. I have several small bolt ons that I wasted my money on when I was younger- Plenum and TB, Intake, Cat Back Exhaust, and Ignition Coils.

Note: The tunes would be from BAMA. Are they any good? Do they know what they are doing? could the proper and responsible use of this product damage my car?

As a bonus, has anyone had their stock seats reupholstered? If so, about how much did it cost?

Any answers and input are appreciated, thank you.

I had to buy mine cause I intstalled rear gears and had high hopes for a noticable change in power with the SCT Tuner, but It didn't. It's almost a must have if your having your car dyno'd and supercharged etc...... but in my opinion just a daily driver minor bolt on car like mine . It's not worth the price. Just read an article in my ford mag where they tested the newer JLT intake and with a custom dyno tune and got 10hp and 8ft lbs of torque ??? So a 380 dollar tuner and a 200 intake for 10 hp ? My .02$

Do you have a shop with a Dyno tuner? If so and you use it, ask them what they can do.
My shop prefers SCT and your's?

Dyno tune after all major upgrades and know it's right and how much hp you have.

Or just do whatever, it's your call.
