I have a 1996 GT Auto. Recently (sitting overnight) the speedo stopped working and the O/D light just flashes. when i bought the car the ABS light was on and everything still worked i did have to get a speedcal and fix to compensate for a gear change in the rear end. I have changed the VSS to aval on getting the speedo to start working again. I am out of ideas any guru's know what i should be doing next?

Check the connector at the VSS, if the o-ring goes bad you can get automatic transmission fluid in the connector and short it out. Disconnect the connector spray some electrical contact cleaner in the connector and VSS and blow out with compressed air reconnect and check. you can also check for reference voltage, using a voltmeter. with the key in the on position (engine not running) the reference wire should have 5 volts. if no voltage you have other issues that will require additional diagnoses
