Alright so here's the deal, I got a 2003 Mustang GT Deluxe. Automatic, V8 4.6L.

When I drive the car, it makes a real bad whining noise. Typically when I accelerate between 1st-32nd gear its real bad then 3rd and the rest of the gears it kinda tones down. The noise you can hear from the inside and outside the car. At some points in time while driving it the noise will stop. The noise sounds like it's coming from between the engine/transmission. I believe it's the torque converter. I need a second opinion. I work for Crown Ford as a Lube Tech and plan on throwing it up on a rack this Monday to check under it real good. Any thoughts on what could be wrong?

To describe the noise better, it's almost like a loud whistling sound.

my 04 use to do that to it was a 5 speed... sounded like a mini sc.....i changed the serpitine belt and a pully...dont remeber which one..... if we are on the same sound

Yeah but if it was a pully or even the Serpentine belt, that would be making the noise in the front of the motor. Not in the back of it. It's like a winding noise. It's really harsh in the first through second but it gets quiet 3rd-5th. Sometimes if I drive it for a minute it'll just randomly quit. I've had people tell me repeatedly it's the Torque Converter. They're saying it's either not catching or releasing or it's just not doing one or the other overall.
