Default Click in front end of '03 Mustang when turning

I have a '03 Mustang GT and have been hearing a click in the front end when I turn the wheel. I took it to a mechanic friend who thought it might be the rack and pinion, but cannot be sure because when he put a stethascope on the rack it wasn't much louder than what we were hearing with the scope, but he could feel vibration. Other observations were that the click happened even when the car was off and stoped when the front end was raised off the ground. Any thoughts?

Have the same issue with 04gt. I hear a clicking noise up front when I turn the steering wheel to the right. I can be stopped with the car running or off. Or turning the wheel to the right when driving under 5mph. Car is still under warranty. Hopefully the problem can be solved. I'll let you if anything comes out of it.

Yeah, my step-moms 04 gt had the same problem, but when she took it to the dealership and she explained what it was doing, they said they new exactly what it was b/c it was common ( they never specified what it was). Sorry i don't have an exact answer, but if it's that common then your local dealership might have an idea of what it is.

CV Joints. The boots are torn, dirt, grime and crap have gotten into the CV Joints. Replace immediately.

If the boots were torn, then im sure the mechanic would of seen all of the grease under the car that flys out and gets oll over the place when they are torn. Therefore, I dont think its the boots, it would of been noticed right away.

There isn't 10 gallons of grease in the boots... it's not going to explode and cause a mess as if your oil pan exploded.

That is correct. But if they were torn it would be noticed right away. Even more so with a front wheel drive car because they turn with the shaft and they will spit out grease as well.

Seems to me to be a ball joint! Gives you a good excuse to get a Steeda X2 ball joint if bank account allows!
