Default Cold weather repairs...

I am still working on getting the lower intake manifold gasket replaced on 1997 cobra (to fix leaks and codes). I thought I would get to it over the past month, but kids and work didn't allow.

I am in Chicagoland and normally refrain from car work during the cold months, unless needed. I can get my garage to about 45 drgrees with a heater and am checking to see what the thoughts are of repairs in the winter.

I am worried about snapping a bolt or not seating the gasket correctly (flexibility) when reassembly.

Any thoughts?

45 degrees isn't bad lol. Ive done things in the driveway at 10 degrees , not fun but sometimes necessary.

I never had a garage with out a wood/coal burner, but its more a comfort thing than worrying about bolts breaking. You would have to be in like negative 50 degrees before you'd need to worry about that and if your crazy enough to work on a car in that temperature more power to ya lol .

Default It just isnt as fun....

I had to replace the expansion tank and WP on my BMW at -5 degrees last winter and the gaskets and plastic just wasn't as plyable as warm weather. I brought everything (loose parts) into my house first and warmed them up so it all fit well as I rushed it outside to the cold.

Thanks for the feedback....now I just need the wife to warm up to me spending some time for fixing the car. Talk about cold.....

Holding the wrench is not the problem, letting go is because it will be frozen to your hand. Lol

Gloves are pretty important at that temp

I think you might have set the record for most threads about something without even doing any work on it yet I cant wait for you to have the intake gasket finaly changed on that car
