Default New to stangs

Hey guys new to forum and new to mustangs never owned a car always diesels so for my first car i purchased my 00 mustang gt 4.6 5speed with about 110k miles. So im wanting more power i would like to shoot for an extra 100 ***** what would i do to achieve that.

Also what are some things i should look out for.

And final the metal hose that runs from front to back of motor on the top but under the intake manifold what is that and do they leak i am finding a little oil or some kinda residue sitting on the top front of the block between heads

Hey welcome! And easy way to increase hp on a 2v is supercharge. A vortec or procharger will put you into the 350rwhp range, you're at maybe 220rwhp now so that 3-4g's for the super charger is the biggest bang for buck you can do. I'm at a loss at what you're describing though, a coolant tube from the water pump runs in the block valley. Just got off work and my mind is fried, I'll have to read it again tomorrow.

You'll be good on a stock block up to 400 rwhp (on a good tune). You can also piece a vortech together for about 1500 bucks. If you'll looking to make some real power that's the way to go. When I 1st bought my car I had every bolt on under the sun (including cams). With all those parts plus labor I spent close to $3500 and gained about 35 rwhp. The 2vs do not respond to bolt on's worth a sh**. Something that I wish I had known years ago. Do You have gears? If not thats where I would start.

Also check out the mods for begginers sticky. That's a very good write up for new mustang owners.

If i put a supercharger on it will have to mess with engine internals or just bolt it on and put a tune on it
