Default 2001 mustang gt issues....

Recently I bought a 2001 mustang gt, When I bought it I thought I was getting a great deal....Interior an paint are in near perfect condition. Had a check engine light but I wasn't worried. 90,000 miles.

Now a few months later....First ill start with the main issues.

Start the car in the mornings, takes a few cranks to get it started once its started you go to move. The car bogs down, with little to no acceleration. After bout half a mile an pedal to the floor it will clear up, but will still bog/sputter. idles erratically, going from 400-2100 Rpm...

Check engine light codes....Camshaft sensor, catalytic converters.

Just had fuel pump, fuel filter replaced. Also all new spark plugs. An camshaft sensor. Throttle body cleaned. MAF cleaned. Yet still pulling the cam sensor code. I have been told the car has an intake leak, but I'm not sure if that would cause these issues because it wasn't doing it when I first bought it....Any tips help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you look at the wiring for the cam sensor?

Unmetered air will cause most if not all of your problems. Fix your intake leak.

Your car computer is constantly adjusting a/f ratio, timing, and coil spark based on what the measured air flow/mass is and what the other sensors tell it (feedback). If you have unmetered air (air that is getting into your intake after the MAF sensor), the computer has no way of knowing it and tries to compensate by what the other sensors are telling it.

Because you have unmetered, those readings make no sense so the computer tries to correct. It can't, thus the issues.

sounds like the no power is a cats problem. does the exhaust have a funny rotten egg smell and feel if the flows hard by holding your hand over the tailpipe and have someone rev it up.

carefully spray short spurts of starting fluid around intake connections and see if rpm's increase in spots. if so wallah!! intake leak detected.
