Default Is it OK to put jack stands under front springs?

I've got my 2002 GT up on jack stands right now so I can try to find a power steering leak, but I just want to see if there's going to be a problem with my jack stand placement. I wanted them wide apart for stability, and I've got them under the springs, with the jack stand cup under the curved piece of metal that the front spring sits in. It seems pretty good, but is this going to be a problem with the suspension compressed? what if I have to replace the steering rack? I may have to leave it up for 2 or 3 days.

I don't see a problem with jacking it up under there... Why not put it under the frame on each side of the car right behind the front wheels if you are worried?

on some cars, what seems like the frame isn't always the frame, so I'm nervous about using that area. I like to use the crossmember or big suspension parts.

That is where I put the jack stands on mine, for that matter I put them like this on any car I ever owned.

Talking about jacking the vehicle; the manual states that you shouldn't use the rear differential as a point to lift the car??? Well, by the time I found this out I had already done so numerous times just like I have always lifted cars. Anyway, didn't hurt anything, just done it again today.

Me too. I still do it. No issues...I really don't know what the worst that could happen is. Hopefully we won't have to learn the hard way.
