Default authentic saleen.. with s/c?

so i saw this supercharged saleen... #841 for sale. Now it says s-281 on the bumper but not s281 with supercharged under it? did this year not have this or what? im just wondering because i was browsing and i see it has a kenne bell on it. Did this car come without a s/c from the factory and somebody slapped a s/c on it? or did this year not have the supercharged badge under the s-281 on the bumper?

I could be wrong but I believe that the supercharged Saleen Mustangs came with a different hood, as well as the "Supercharged" badge, different seats and a twin guage pod in the center of the dashboard for boost and temp. I think what we are looking at here is an entry-level Saleen that the owner supercharged after the initial purchase.

Good Lordy that's clean! It was an option to have a supercharger or not. If it didn't come with a sc then it got an upgraded fuel system, under drive pulleys, and a tuned exhaust. The sc saleen came with a roots supercharger at 365hp. That kennebell is a lot better than the roots sc, kb is twin screw. Hope that helps .

thanks guys. I know a KB is alot better, but wouldnt it be better to have the s/c option from the factory, then switch it out? What exactly does this lack from the s-281 sc. im just worried about reliability

You are getting a 4th mustang?!
Dude that is a TON of cash for a 15 year old 2v with a kenne bell on it.
You can pickup a clean new edge for 6-8k and put the saleen stickers and spoilers and a kenne bell on it yourself and save yourself 10 grand. (not including taxes, interest etc.)

no i never said i was going to get it. just interested me that it had a KB on it. if anything, im thinking about trading in the '99 cobra convertible for either a terminator or a newer saleen (2005+).

Ive always wanted a termi, bad thing is theres none really for sale with very low miles and in mint condition for a reasonable price. Everyone is asking around $27k for a low mileage terminator which is a little more than i want to spend

The only forged 4.6's I've seen are 03-04 cobra. All the other non sc 4.6's can handle up to 450hp, the saleens are only 365hp well under that limit. So I don't see a non sc saleen having a disadvantage when paired with a sc, it's most likely faster with the kb on it

Saleens only used roots blowers for the early generations. They ended up with twin screws in 2003. Their power ratings were higher than what the cars actually put down.

i think that is just the s281 extremes. think you could get a s281 supercharged without all the extras. but that is like $75k LOL

I also believe they didn't put the twin guage pod in the supercharged Saleens until 2002, but I could be mistaken. Everything else on it looks legit. It would be nice to see an engine shot though.
