Drags in rear, normal in front is what it sounds like. I wonder if he wants to go staggered set up.

I've got Nitto 555 275/40-17's all around on 17 inch bullit wheels, and they look great. The Nitto 275's are the perfect new edge mustang tire.

You can get Nitto nt555r's in the stock 245/45/R17 size. I've got some and they work well on the street.

However the Nitto nt555r 275/40/R17 would work well on your 9" rim, its the same diameter as the stock tire. These nitto tires run a little smaller than other tires and many have run their 275/40/R17 on the stock 8" rim also with no problems.

I'd stay with the stock 245/45/R17 size on the front, but fat tires on the front just look weird to me, I guess I'm a drag guy. If you take the car to the drags just temporarily pump the fronts up to the max pressure on the tire to minimize rolling resistance.

The Nittos nt555r's will give you around 10,000 miles or so and are ok in the rain if you take it easy. They hook way better than normal street tires but if you are looking for even more hook take a look at the Mickey Thompson ET Street radials, they also have the 275/40/R17 size. However now you're probably only going to get 5,000 miles or so and driving in the rain is sketchy.

275/40/17 is a standard tire in the 94-04 mustang world. The hit and miss on rubbing is due to improper wheel offset

I'm about to have to get new tires. These Nitto 555's were on the car when I bought it 3 years ago, and they looked half-way worn then. I figured I would have to get tires pretty soon back then, but these could go another year except I don't think they'll pass inspection in 6 months. Currently I've got the 275/40-17's all around on my 17x8 bullitt wheels. They fit perfectly, but I want to go with a smaller, maybe a bit taller tire in front. I'll probably go with 255/45 in front which is about 2/5 of an inch taller than the 275/40's. I'm sticking with the 275/40 Nittos in back. I really could use a taller tire in back with my 4.10's, but I just like the way these tires look and work too well, and I don't want to mess with it.
