Default 5th gen steering wheel in 99-04 GT

I was looking through the archives and couldn't come up with anything I could use.

I'm looking into swapping a 5th generation steering wheel into an 01 GT.

I'm not interested in hooking up the cruise control or volume controls. I just want steering wheel.

This is my first Mustang so I know very little about what parts are compatible between platforms. If anyone has any useful info that could help me out that would be awesome.

Or if its just entirely impossible then I wont even bother.

Anythings possible but sometimes you gotta ask yourself is it worth it and how much will it cost? I would normally say go for it but as stated above you're not really familiar with the workings of the mustang, therefore you'll have to pay someone to do it for you. IMO could be money spent elsewhere. What mods do you have?

I just purchased my Mustang last week. As far as I know a JLT CAI, Powerflow 75mm TB, Powerflow plenum, Typhoon intake manifold, Flowmaster exhaust, and upgraded differential.

I'm sure it's possible... but... I don't think it'll fit in with the rest of the interior imho.

If you're going to do it i don't know why you wouldn't want to hook up the cruise buttons at least.

I thought about doing it in the project i'm working on but i agree with subbz...i don't think it flows with the rest of the interior.

Your right it doesnt exactly fit in. Ive been looking around for aftermarket steering wheels and all I can find are the Grant wheels.

They have some aftermarket steering wheels at americanmuscle.com. You can look for the FR500 steering wheel. It replaces the stock one with a more thicker race inspired wheel. That way you can also keep your airbag.
