Mustang dies after long drive
Hi, I'm new to this forum and Mustangs. I picked up a 2002 Mustang GT almost a month ago. At first, I thought all it needed was the terrible bumpers, tint, and sideskirts replaced, but it is turning into a bigger project. I did a couple test drives before I bought it and everything seemed fine. No weird sounds, suspension seemed fine, transmission shifted fine, clutch seemed great. After a week later, I have been driving from my house to the city to get stock parts from junk yards and on my way home, I was doing 75 mph on the interstate and then all of a sudden i couldn't keep it at 75 mph, i went down to 65 mph, then the engine just died. i pulled over, called a tow truck. after i got home about a hour later, i tried starting it up and it started fine like nothing happened. I took it to the dealership, they said they had to replace the spark plugs which they said were painted and never replaced within the 80k miles, the spark plug boots, the coils, and the fuel filter. After all this, the problem came back. I took it back to the dealership and they got no codes. I have been researching forums, websites, and asking my friends and it all seems to be pointing to the fuel pump. Any thoughts? Thank you.
