400hp?
Hey guys, needed some input. I have a 2001 mustang gt, some simple boltons, wondering if i can reach 400 rwhp without forced induction and whats needed. I was looking into PI heads with some cams, not sure what to go for. I don't have as much to spend like going forced induction, so guys is it possible. If not, what can I do to get close, maybe high 300's..? Thanks for all the ideas.
Cai,75mmTB, Trickflow Plenum. Borla Catback.
-Soon
I have 3.73's Im installing soon and a trans cooler.
Oh also, what mid pipe and headers should I get with the Borla Stinger Catback? I want to make it louder but not o/r, was looking at jba maybe? thinking about staying H pipe too.

If you have an '01, then you already have PI heads. Is there any particular reason you don't want to go FI? I'm no expert, but I've been thinking about more power for my car too, and from everything I've seen, it's much, much more expensive to do an N/A build. A set of cams and Trick Flow heads (or maybe ported heads, I'm not sure if you can do that to these heads) would probably get you there, but then I think you also need larger injectors. Hot Rod Magazine made 453 WHP / 390 WTQ on a junkyard 4.6L with heads and cams, but they also converted to a carb'd setup. I bet you could get to 400 like that but you're looking at a hefty price tag. Might as well buy a used s/c setup.

The only way you'll get there without boost is if you add an aggressive aftermarket cam, some ported heads, LT headers, all other bolt-ons (TB, elbow, PP or TF intake manifold, etc) along with high compression.
