Default high idle

I started my car today and it idled really high. I figured it would go down but it didn't. I drove the car for a while and still idled high. And it also does this, when I'm in any gear and I get up to about 3-3500 rpms and let off the gas to slow down without breaking once the rpms drops just a bit then it drops again really far and changes the tone of the car. It runs fine except for the idle.

sounds like your IAC needs either cleaned or replaced.

Most definitely your IAC or your Throttle Sensor might be going bad. Chances are it's probably going to be your IAC.

Inlet Air Control. It lets the computer bypass the throttle plate for intake air to control idle speed. It's on the throttle body.

Replaced the IAC & that did the trick Thanks everyone.

Also found a way to test for this. Place a piece of tape over the two holes under the IAC, reinstall the IAC, start the engine. Mine would run, very low idle, & had to hit the gas to keep it running. It was not at all running at high idle, so I replaced the IAC w/ a new one, problem solved .
