Default How to remove steering shaft?

As the title says, I'm stuck on how to get the steering shaft out. Everyone says its simple and straight forward. I like to think I'm fairly mechanically knowledgeable. Hell I rebuilt this car, but geez this has me lost. I've already loosened the pinch bolt at the rack. My problem is: Everywhere I look says remove the bolt on that shaft by the firewall. I'm guessing this means the engine bay side of the firewall. Well, there is no bolt on my engine bay side of the firewall before the u-joint. Just a black sleeve that runs through the firewall with a shaft running through it. Following this shaft into the cab it connects to another u-joint via pinch bolt and ultimately to the steering column. I have also removed the two nuts on the cab side of the firewall holding the plate on. But still to no avail.
Any and all help is appreciated.

Should be a pinch bolt under the dash on the shaft.

Thanks, I had tried that, but I needed to pull the rack off to get room to slip the shaft off. But since I had put new bushings in with the new rack it was pretty darn tight and I gave up for the night. I'm sure I'll be able to get it now.
Thanks again.
