Default FRPS going bad?

Hey guys, just have a quick question, I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the FRPS going bad. But, here lately, my car (2003 Mustang GT) has been giving me trouble starting, it'll turn over for a solid 5-8 seconds before catching, but once it starts it's perfectly fine. At first I thought the spark plugs were going bad because take off was a little rough, so I replaced them (.054) and got rid of the shaky launch. However, starting was still an issue, then I started smelling fuel in my a/c only when idling, it's definitely not a build up of fungus or bacteria as condensation still collects on the ground from the a/c. I tried giving the fuel pump 3 seconds before starting and when I do it fires right up. So I'm almost positive the fuel pressure is leaking down because of the FRPS. Just want you all's thoughts.

You mean the PPRV valve in the tank, correct?

If that's bleeding pressure down you will see it with a gauge on the fuel rail fitting, after clicking the ignition to the run position but not starting the car the pressure should come up to around 30 and stay for a while.

If that valve isn't working its not the end of the world, a lot of guys (like me) take them out anyway to get better flow.

To start a car with no PPRV you just need to time it right, click to run for just a little less than a full second to let the pressure build then start it. If you wait too long the pump shuts off and pressure drops.

If doing this doesn't start the car quickly then the problem is something besides the PPRV.

I don't have a problem with waiting to start it, I that now already anyways. I just don't like the fuel smell in the a/c.
