Hey,

Welcome! Great question and on most if not all of my cars the first mods that I went with were a Cold Air Intake and a Tuner. I can't help but notice that you're from CA and the one thing that I would keep an eye out for would be a CARB certified CAI like this K&N CAI Stuffing a little more air into the motor as well as changing the engine computer will not only help with throttle response but it will yield a nice bump in HP and TQ! Let me know if you have any questions and hope this helps!

Like I said in your other thread, I always go gear first. It make the most noticeable difference in how quick the car launches.

I hate to step on your toes here Alex, but honestly a CAI has minimal effect on an otherwise stock engine. I think most pple like me will choose gears over a CAI any time.

What kind of budget do you have?

What is your goal with the car? Will it be your daily driver or a weekend car?

This man speaks the truth... Been there done that (CAI). Gears, tuner, STS (short Throw shifter) that'll be a good start. Might wanna get a tuner also.

I agree gears will give you the most noticeable acceleration for you buck but you need to decide what your end game is with the car before deciding on a gear ratio. In the meantime a CAI is not a bad way to start. Cheap and you can do it yourself.

And does absolutely nothing that the stock intake doesn't already do. There is no noticeable difference between the stock intake and an aftermarket one.

Hey,

No problem at all! The only reason I'm recommending it is because it's going to a little easier on the wallet all around. Despite how many times I'll say shoot for a CAI and Tuner right out of the gate, 4.10's were my first mods on both my 2 and 3v.
