TrickFlow TW Head Upgrade - Help
Hello - i am taking my 98 Mustang 98 to a speed shop to help me install the following:
Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Heads
Ford Racing PI Intake
CAMs
Cold Air Intake
3.73 Gears
He was suggesting that I need to go with Long Tube Headers and Catted X-Pipe as well to maximize the HP. As we were talking he started to tell me that for the money that I am investing, it might be wiser to go with a super charger and get at least the same performance if not better.
My question is how much HP do you estimate I will get out of the set up I am planning to install (already bought the parts) and if you agree that a super charger would be a better way to go. This is my daily driver so I want something fast, 325+ RWHP but still reliable. I hate losing to Camaros!

I would consider not only what your goals are now but also your future goals for the car. Say 325whp is your goal now, but you think youd keep the car and 5 years from now wanna make 450whp or whatever.
Personally i would go the n/a route. For a couple reasons, 1 cams always make a car sound meaner at a red light, 2 the engine bay wont be any more cluttered than it is vs. Supercharged. 3 you arent adding any real weight vs turbo or sc. 4 i think its better to smoke the competition and still say its just a N/A 2v lol 5 if you want more power, spray is not really that expensive.
Just my opinion. Although a blower whine is a very nice noise

We are probably going to get TFS heads for my son's rebuild. However, his original heads were destroyed when the cam bridges got loose and the cam walked. Since he has to buy new heads anyway, the difference in cost over stock heads is about $2800 and that gets him a custom cam, cam degreed, and the cam and crank billet gears. For us, it's a good deal.

This is pretty true considering it sounds like his motor has a good bill of health im assuming. That is the NUMBER ONE thing to do FIRST is make sure that motor is running great and ya do all the maintenance ya can before you do a top end build or boost
