Default New Stereo System

I have a 2001 Mustang GT and it has a stock stereo system, I want to replace the old one and install the Mach 460 stereo system in it, what all will I need to get for the whole system and the other question I have is would an aftermarket head radio unit touch screen from BestBuy be compatible with the Mach 460 stereo system?

You really don't want the mach 460 system. It would be a raging pain in the *** to try and install it and there are much better aftermarket options out there. Just get a nice set of 5x7 speakers, a subwoofer, and a head unit.

What JC said ^!

Get and aftermarket system and totally delete the Mach system. Aftermarket sounds much better in my opinion with a good amp and a sub.

i used to have the mach 460, and when i put a new head unit in i rewired the speakers and bypassed the 460 amps and just that was a noticeable difference. not impressed with the 460 whatsoever

The 460 isn't that bad for a stock unit, if you compare it to something like the Monsoon in the Fbodies, or the Bose in the cadillacs, or the JBL in the Mark VIII. It's just nowhere near the quality of an aftermarket system.

I though about a new head unit also but I have a vert and the rear speaker set up is different from a coupe as they are a lot closer to the front..

Yeah, the verts use a 6.5" speaker in the rear and they are mounted differently. Shouldn't change how you go about putting in a new head unit though.
