Question new toy need help

hey whats going on everyone I just picked up a 1996 gt with a 4.6 and 5 speed. I didnt pay much at all because it does not move it runs great but when you push in the clutch nothing happens no noise nothing i can put it in gear and nothing happen no grinds nothing. so what is the best place to start looking? and how do i tell if its a 2v or 4v any help would be alsome. I really want to get this going and start having fun I always wanted a mustang and now i got one

Sounds like the clutch is just plumb worn out man. Reach down with your hand and lift the clutch pedal up and see if it clicks or makes a popping sound, it may just be adjusted to far and there isn't enough slack in the cable anymore.

Other problems could be a broken input shaft stripped cluster gear.

Im leaning more towards the clutch just being shot.

thanks man it turn out to be the clutch so I went with a 6 puck disk and pressure plate
