Default Coolant drainage locations

Hey Techs,

In need of your help. I have a 99 Mustang GT. I want to do a complete drainage and replacement of the coolant. I know there is one drainage location down at the bottom of the radiator (passenger side) but I have also learned that I need to drain the coolant from the engine block too. Apparently there are two bolts (not sure if they are bolts or petcocks) under the bottom of the engine block. One on each side of the block. I checked but I just can't find these two bolts. Can someone please point me to the exact location of these two bolts. Also, If you could post a pic or two, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

you may not have any that are easily accessible. Best to just drop lower hose off radiator and shoot some shop air in where the t-stat housing is

Hey WhiteFoxGT,

Thanks for this. By doing that, will it force the remaining coolant out through the lower hose?

^ Yes, that's exactly what forcing air through the t-stat will do.

Be sure to properly burp the system when you get it all back together and filled up.

How do you burp the system?

I agree with the above, simply undo the bottom hose

But to answer your question i put together a write up MANY years ago about installing gauges in a 99-04 GT.

You can find pics of the drain on the side in there
