I have a speedcal from dallas mustang I bought years ago works great. In hindsight I should have just bought the SCT programmer.

I don't know anything about the hypertech but for what they want for it's almost half the cost for a tuner.

I also used this box on a 95 tbird auto with zero problems.

Thanks bud it looks pretty easy to install. I'm thinking the one I'm looking at may be simpler though to get in that it's a simple plug in and it also doubles as a code reader, I need one and have been meaning to buy one. If I know what gears my car has had upgraded to it should be a simple program right?

It's truly up to you and plans for the car. If you plan on modifications down the road a tuner may be a better buy and does what you want and more. If it is just for a gear swap the speedcal would be a better deal costwise.

There is another item called an Ultragauge. It can monitor many items and can reset DTC's and read codes. http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/

Just bear in mind this doesn't modify anything just reads outputs so in the end youd still need something for the rear gear change,
