2000 GT Alternator problems driivng me crazy.
Hi all, I have a 2000 GT 5 speed. Since I got it a week or so ago, the voltage gauge on the dash would fluctuate up and down and the battery light would light up. I just ignored it because the battery never died. Well last night, the voltage gauge dipped to ZERO and it killed the battery in car and I had to have it towed.
Went to autozone, charged the battery, put a brand new alternator in, and now and its doing the same thing. 12v at the alternator with the car on and running, and 12v at the battery. its not charging it. Once in 5 starts or so, it will charge the battery with 15v, but when and how it does that is completely random. Any ideas?

Check the cables and connections. Voltage Drop tests with a volt meter can tell you if excessive resistance on the cables between the battery & alternator preventing all the power from the alternator getting to the battery. Good luck...
