Power steering rack making moaning noise
My 04 Mustang gt started recently making a moaning noise when turning fast in each direction or at a stop back and forth. I thought it might have been the power steering pump but listened to it and there was no noise at all. I then took it to my buddys shop and listened to it on the lift and figured out it was coming from the power steering rack. I then looked at the power steering fluid which was extremely dirty. I took it home drained the reservoir and replaced with fresh mercon 5 and lucas power steering fluid with conditioner. Still no better. It only seems to do it when it is hot (105 here in south carolina) any ideas on how to fix it or if anyone else has had this problem? Ive searched and seen everything from power steering gear tube brackets to the ball joins to the whole rack is just trash. Any help?
Thanx!

If the Rack is already moaning and the fluid was trashed the damage is probably already done. PS fluid is supposed to be replaced every 3-4 years.
If you only replaced the fluid in the reservoir you left about half the fluid in the system. You'll need to empty the reservoir again and refill it a couple times to get most of it replaced. Twice will cover about 75% percent
