Octane booster

You could probably get away with it, but I wouldn't make it a lifestyle. I assume that you bought fuel somewhere that was out of premium, or are anticipating the possibility?
The problem I have with these snake oil/octane boosters is, I have yet to see one that mentions on it's labeling the amount of points it increases octane by in a given amount of fuel. There's just a lot of misinformation about these sort of products (per their labeling and advertising) that is aimed right at the wallets of people who don't know better.

I called up the Valvoline oil tech support line one time and got hold of one of their engineering eggheads. I noticed that they had changed their rating so called to ask about that then got off the subject I called about and onto the question of octane and using the octane boosters. What he told me was don't waste your time with the "miracle in a bottle" octane boosters. He told me that if you want higher octane then buy higher octane.
I mentioned that our Sunoco station here in town sells high octane fuel for about 10.00 a gallon but that is cost prohibitive so I go out to the airport and buy their airplane fuel and mix it about 50/50 with the 93 octane in my fastback (healthy 351w). He said that buying the airplane fuel is fine but not to run 100% or even 50/50 on the street because there were no idling properties built into that fuel and at most run it 70/30 (70% pump gas & 30% airplane fuel).
His pearls o' wisdom had some merit to them because when I would run it 50/50 or higher it would idle like crap around town but when I got on it, it would run like a raped ape. Once I started following his advice on the mix I did indeed notice an improvement in the street manners while still providing a very noticeable performance boost over using the straight 93 octane swill.
