I have a 1997 GT with a 5 speed. whenever I really wail on it, and sustain above 3000 rpm (like on the highway) I smell what smells like rotten eggs. Now I have no exhaust leaks, and no check engine. (no codes either)
the air/fuel gauge I have peggs in rich, which it is supposed to. Tomorrow I'm gonna put in a new set of OEM motorcraft spark plugs (what's in there now) and see what that does. Does anyone else get this? Fuel economy on non- cold days is very good. About 18mpg. It has dropped a few MPG lately but I am warming it up now to get it warm inside.

yea that fart smell is completely normal on all catted cars, its the converters not being able to speed up the reaction on all those extra fumes.. and easy fix would be a o/r Hpipe

Yeah, I had a brand new car about 6 years ago (not a mustang) that did the same thing when I stepped on it. Drove me crazy smelling that rotten egg s***. Dealer said its normal.

Did you replace your midpipe? If not, your car (stock) can have up to 6 cats on it. Maybe you missed a couple.

I've been having a odd smell when ripping too. I think it was the mexican I had for dinner. But I'm not 100% sure.
