Default Mach I Convertible question

I sold my 67 fastback and now want to upgrade my 02 GT convertible that currently has a 32V DOHC out of a 1998 Mark VIII which is all well and good but I want to make a Mach I clone.

I have a line on a complete Mach I engine and as near as I can tell, it should be just a direct swap, seeing how I have already done the DOHC conversion.

I think this should be a pretty straight forward swap (famous last words of a fool, I know).

Have any of you made this swap?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind sharing, what is the price on the Mach 1 motor? Been wanting to buy one and forge it, but the Mach 1 motors seem crazy high priced here in Ca and on the interwebzz.

3k w/ 30k on the clock w/ 90 days no knock, smoke or burning oil. ECU included.

Pricey I know but still less than a Kubota.

Yeah, that seems to be the going rate for some reason....ugh. Might just buy a dead 2v and have it forged.

Is that mach engine from a manual or auto? The redline was lower on the auto (still rated the same) and i think the crankshaft is forged on the manual.

I got the motor, shaker and all of the other pieces in place so the motor swap will begin here in the next couple of days.

I bought a nice set of Bullitt side scoop delete plates to replace the factory GT scoops, which I never liked to begin with. Along with my spoiler delete deck lid and shaker hood w/ scoop it'll be setup just how I want it and then it's off to paint.

Please update as you go! Pricing a 4v too, and 3k seems to be the going rate. Then I still have to forge it.

Don't think I am going to do the shaker and hood though.

Turns out that the crank on my new Mach I engine has provisions for an 8 bolt flywheel/flex plate and the plate I was planning on using from my Mark VIII Intech is a 6 bolt. MPS hooked me up with an 8-bolt automatic flex plate and it'll be here early next week. Until then, I'm cooling my jets, making "VROOoom VROOoom" sounds waiting for the part to arrive.
