Default Small Problem??

Hey guys.........I got into my '02 GT yesterday after work and as I was driving through the parking lot, I noticed that my oil pressure gauge was pegged all the way over to the end........It wasn't just in the red, it was all the way over and out of the red.....pegged. After turning the car off and then turning it back on, the gauge would just automatically shoot all of the way over....I've never had a problem before and I just had the oil changed about 3 weeks ago. It's full of oil and no leaks and no other gauges came on.....No check engine or oil or anything........After driving down the road a couple of miles, it went back to normal and has been normal ever since......Any ideas on what could cause this? Thanks!!!!!

Sending unit went bad... I don't think it pegs if you have more oil pressure than recommended. It reads 60% if oil pressure is above 9psi, and reads nothing if oil pressure is below 9psi. I'd give your sending unit a replacement and see if that fixes it.

Here's a quick way to help find what could be causing the problem. It works on 99-04 cars. Just follow the instructions and check out what each item means.
