Default Car cranks but don't start

Just joined this forum hello to all 👋, just started working on a 4.6 gt and everything has gone well until today. Car sat for roughly 5 years and we decided to fix her up. So far what's been done and changed is fuel assembly brand new, tank, fuel filter, spark plugs, radiator hoses & that is all.
Car cranks but doesn't start sounds like it wants to but doesn't i checked for pressure at the rail and it sprayed rather hard, i checked for spark by unplugging the coil pack putting a plug in it and cranking the car and I saw little to nothing. Don't know if that's correct but I touched the tip of the screw driver with the plug and it shocked me but got no arc. Any help will be appreciated 👋

Welcome!

Start with the battery. Make sure it's fully charged and can pass a load test.

I think your checking spark incorrectly,,, you need to lay the tip of the plug on something that is grounded to see a spark.

You cant check fuel pressure by judging how much fuel sprays out when you open the schrader valve,,, you need to get a gauge that can read the pressure.

It would also help to know what year this car is. 96-98 are different that 99-04 in the way spark is distributed

It's a 2001 mustang gt & just yesterday I sprayed some starting fluid and it turned on, so I have spark obviously & yeah I wasn't too sure how to check the spark on it, but now I know I have a fuel problem & i do need to check fuel pressure though I believe my injectors are not working

This.

Theft light flashing rapidly and odometer readout of "---------" while cranking the engine would be indicative of a PATS issue. Let us know on that.

Go down to post #5 by wmburns, there is a pretty comprehensive "cranks but no start" checklist for you to go through.
