I want to try some free-flowing mufflers on my 1996 GT. Any recommendations? Sound is not a big issue if I can get better flow than my stock setup. Thanks.

Magnaflows or one of the replicas, such as a Jones MaxFlow.

Chambered mufflers like flowmasters force the exhaust gas to go through a maze to get from one end to the other.

Choose a muffler or entire cat-back system based on how it sounds and nothing else. There are no performance gains to be had there.

As far as free flowing goes, any straight-thru type of muffler will do. SLP LM1 or 2, Magnapacks, section of straight pipe welded in, whatever.
