Default Bad lifter and misfire

98 GT, 110K miles

Recently I started hearing loud ticking from the passenger side valve cover. Ive also had a misfire for a couple of weeks.
Today I looked under the valve cover and all of the rocker arms seemed good but one of the lifters was clicking while the other 7 didn't. I am going to replace the lifter and see if that helps.

Can a bad lifter cause a misfire?

DenissK, When the camshaft turns and the lobe touches the lifter, the valve starts opening and then closing through the duration of the lobe turn. If the lifter is not holding oil pressure and always bleeding out because of a malfunction internally, the valve will not open fully, resulting in a misfire. Let me know if changing the lifter solves your problem. This is probably the answer to your problem.. But be advised, a misfire can be caused by a multitude of problems.
