my front lower control arm just started squeeking..cant quite get to it this month..is this a safety issue...lol a shop quoted me $860 to do both! i couldnt help but laugh
Control arms don't squeak. Not unless they've been bent and are touching something they shouldn't. It's probably bushings or ball-joints making that noise, maybe even both. Sometimes you're better off just replacing the entire control arm instead of rebuilding the old one.
Safety-wise, the ball-joint is a bigger safety concern if it pops out, but worn bushings can still affect alignment too.
cool thanks..yes probably the bushing..i'll get a couple of the pre-loaded control arms and be done w it
Here is an idea of the lower control arms for your Mustang: LINK. ACDlecos are a good cost-effective alternative to OEM Ford parts. By the way, if you decide to replace the control arms, it's better to do both passenger and driver's side to avoid uneven tire wear.

Greeting forum members. I also had squeak issues on my front end. I thought it was related to bushings or strut mounts. Then my LF ball joint broke just as I parked at my work. I don't want to consider the outcome had this happened on the highway. Car was towed and repaired. I had both joints replaced. Pay close attention to any issues from suspension. When in doubt repair and replace. Stay safe out there. Thanks,
I want to add that forum members, in other posts, had suggested that ball joints were a likely source for squeaks and other sounds from the front end. I had never experienced a need to replace worn ball joints on any vehicles I've owned (even older cars). This failure was new to me and very scary. Thanks again.
