Default Clutch kit change what is needed

hey planning on doing the clutch on my 04 got with bolt ons. Planning to doing spec stage 1 clutch from American muscle. One how is this clutch? Two any other recommendations?

Also do I need anything else with kit? Should I get the spec flywheel or don’t bother and have mine cut?

Any bushings needed in the tranny while I’m in there?

Any info helps, thanks guys!

get the factory flywheel cut, im not a big fan of spec but they arent bad clutches. depending on power goals id stick with a mild ford racing unit. dont bother with adjustable cables and quadrants. make sure the pivot ball and bearing retainer on the trans is ok and lubed good. also go to ford and order the factory throwout bearing. you'll thank me later

Usually, when you get a "KIT" it has everything except a fly-wheel, even an alignment
tool so you don't have to use a broom stick.

The "Stage" mostly relies on the pressure plate. When you have more HP, that plate
has to make sure it presses the clutch disc down. The higher you go, the stronger
the pressure plate. Stage 1, will probably have a close to OEM clutch disc, with a
stronger pressure plate. Stages 2 and 3 will have better clutch disc material, and
stronger plates. I know a guy who put a stage 2 in his HHR, and made the clutch
pedal stiff. On top of that, a weak floor, and he put the pedal assembly right through
the floor. He didn't need a stage anything clutch for a stock HHR... I had an HHR
too, and when I needed it done, I got an Xedy kit for $140.00 on eBay, came with
everything. I did not need the fly-wheel cut though...

You having a cable clutch, you will feel it with a stronger pressure plate. You can
get OE kits on eBay for $93.00, even a heavier duty one, or a stage one kit for $102.00.
I got my Xedy kit on eBay, and paid someone $250.00 to put it in... No problems at
all.

i just did a new kit on my 97.

Got the old flywheel turned at the machine shop to clean it up and clean off the old wear pattern from the prior clutch.

You may need a pilot bearing puller kit, you can rent the pilot bearing puller and slide hammer kit from Auto Chevy for 65 bucks.

I used a 23mm socket and 3lb sledge and hammered in the new pilot bearing.

When re-installing your 17mm fly wheel bolts need to be torqued to appox 60ft lbs

10mm Pressure plate bolts approx 30lbs

Put your new throw out bearing on the clutch fork, then bolt it together again.

Saw lots of clutch kits for sale on Facebook's marketplace. Do a search
on "mustang parts" - lots of stuff to go through, but I saw at least three kits,
one stage 2 for $100.
