The oil pressure sending unit is right underneath the oil filter. You will see the wire plug going into it. That peice the plug goes into is the oil sending unit.

yeah a good set of channel lock pliers is all you should need. now when you put the new one in, I do reccomend buying a liquid RTV type thread sealer!! And crank it down tight so you can barely see any threads at all left

I just finished replacing mine, I tried the tape teflon and it leaked, so I bought a $4 tube of this thread sealer meant for senders, and I have had no leaks! $4 at lee auto parts

I have a 97 GT and I know we have different body styles but the engines haven't changed drastically, at least at the oil pressure sender.

Hope I helped some

George

Werd to that. I'm just about to install an oil pressure gauge on my car, the number one most stressed thing is do not use Teflon tape, use RTV sealant.

sweet... well I learned that the hard way. Only thing I lost was the cleanliness of a spot on my driveway. Had about a dozen tiny drips due to that being non sealed. Since using the rtv type sealant, no leaks. Also, if anyone adds an aftermarket oil pressure gauge be sure you do not over or under tighten the brass fittings. I had to do some tweaking because the owner before me installed them and didn't quite do it right.

I'm getting rid of my 94 explorer and now that I have this 97 Mustang GT I have a whole 'nother animal to learn from... technician in training here..
