Default Mustang pony emblems

Hello my fellow Stang lovers. Does anyone know how to safely remove the Mustang Pony emblems on the sides of a 2001 Mustang GT. I want to replace them with the Cobra emblems. Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

They're held on with nuclear powered double stick tape so what I did was squirt a little Goof-Off behind the emblem and let it soak for a while to soften up the adhesive then used a bondo spreader to gently pry away the emblem.

Let the car sit in direct sunlight for a few hours, they will come off a lot easier.
I take the emblems of a lot of my cars, and I wait till the sun heats the
body of the car up, and they twist off. Then you remove what's left behind.

Some models have two holes in the fender for the emblems, so you can't
twist off. You will need a plastic scraper to get under the carefully
pry them up and off.

Can also use a heat gun, but be careful not to blister the paint. I did this
with my former '13 Jetta TDI to remove all the emblems. Worked just fine.

Fishing string, start at the edge of the emblem pull it back and forth like a rope saw, no heat required but may help, WD 40 or goof off to get the rest of the tape off has worked many times for me.

Good luck

+1 to above, great tips.

Also... hey, you knew this was coming, so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it LOL. Why are you putting Cobra badges on a GT?

Hello. Your right Tauro. I knew this was coming. Actually have seen a couple of Stangs with the small Cobra badges in place of the Pony emblem on the fender wells and even had the larger Cobra emblem found on the Shelby GT500 on the front grill. Didn't look bad. Here in L A you can drive down the road and see just about anything from a plain Jane SN95 to heavily modified. After all this is Hollywood or in some peoples eyes Holly weird! Lol...
