How would 3.73 and 4.10 gears affect my top speed; how much lower will it be, Ive been told i can do about 155 mph and was hoping if i get gears that it will remain in the 145-150 range.

did anyone think about 3.90's????
seems like a good comprimise BUT the only problem is, (im pretty sure) that you can't get them from Ford Racing. Thus, you have to get a crappy name gear and they usually whine.

with the horse power the non pi motors have combined with 3.73 gears or 4.10s, drving for 3-4 hour highway at 3000 + didnt sound like a great idea ....right now i cruse at 75 around 2100-2200 rpm...and can still burn out form a stop.. aint worth the money, if i can not take it on a long trip

this just my situation though....

no offense stanghead, gears arent really for the burning out effect so much as the actual acceleration effect. in my own opinion anyways. but yea, if you cant take it on the highway, waste of money. everything is personal preference.

i have 3.73's and i would rather have 4:10's i would get 4:10's if i were to do it again
i take it you listened to the people on this forum too about what gear to go with. if you're a 5 speed, do highway driving and plan on getting forced induction, do 3.73s. what a joke. majority of people that say that have never had 4.10s or even a gear swap done at all. it makes me so angry. i wish i went with 4.10s.

you'll see like 1-2mpg different in gas mileage on the highway (assuming you don't romp on the gas all the time). so the whole lower MPG is almost BS.
It also depends on what year of car you have, and thus what trans. I tach the same with my 3.73s in 5th as someone with a 3650 does with 4.10s.

If you have a T-45 car, or one with the same 5th gear ratio, go with 3.73s if you see alot of highway. Otherwise go 4.10s.

BTW, I honestly do not think there is THAT much difference in these two gearsets. You are not gonna see a gigantic difference if you go from 3.73s to 4.10s.
