ABS light on
#11
In later years, they assigned much greater "power" to the ABS system. My '04 Explorer shut me down on "Forced Engine Idle" when the ABS Module died. It was diagnosed as a dead main chip: I replaced the Module with a used one, and the ABS light is permanently "ON", demanding the VIN be downloaded into the Module! Otherwise, works OK, so screw it! imp

Would it happen to be Circuit Board Medics? They're awesome! Had a 06 Escape PCM replacement from them. Very helpful and quick! They are very highly regarded in the Escape community because it's a known failure with the OEM part.

Likely same guy I sent mine to; seemed honest enough about it, said not repairable, charged $25, sent old one back. Forget where I bought replacement (used), proly Ebay. imp

EXCEPT: Wanna trade it to some dealer, car lot? First thing they do is turn on key, look at the lights. ABS gone, they walk. Also, if emissions required, the inspector will not pass it if light does not "prove out". Later models, PCM may shut the engine down for good, until fixed. imp
