Default 4.6 2v Tick/tapping

I have a 2000 mustang. Originally the car was a V6, but i swapped a 97 v8 into it, with 270 comp cams, and a few other things. Everything has been converted in the car to V8, as in the harnesses, computer, etc. Recently, I decided to do the PI swap. So now, i have a 97 block and rotating assembly, and PI romeo heads, and i also added 30lb injectors. Recently, i got the car running. It ran very smooth when it was first fired, no miss or noise, it just idled high (vaccumm leak). Well then we hooked everything up and the car ran awful, missing and bogging. So i put my stock injectors back in, the 19lb ones, and it started backfiring through the exhaust and bogging. We got the car to idle and run, but it had a tap/ticking noise coming from what seemed to be the valve cover area. Immediately i thought it was a lifter. I let the car cool down for about an hour and a half, came back, and was going to take it home (was at my friend’s shop) and it fired up and ran GREAT. The tap/tick was still there, but no backfire or anything. The car had plenty of power and sounded great, until i got on the highway. All of the sudden the noise got louder and the car died. The car will still tuen over fine, and run, but stalls immediately. I pulled the valve cover off, and all lifters, and rockers/followers look fine and are tight. However, i did find that when the car would turn over/run for a second, the chain tensioner on the passenger side would squirt oil up, towards the valve cover. I do not believe it is supposed to squirt in the direction it did, so i’m suspecting a tensioner issue. Does anyone have any insight?

Also, to add on, i am 99% sure the noise was top end. I used a screw driver and pinpointed the noise to the passenger side valve train area

do these 4.6's even have valve lash adjustment or is that just for older engines?

No, no lash adjustment. Just bolt it together. I think the chain was a tooth off, and that was my problem. Ordered tensioners. Any reviews on the Cloyes chain tensioners??

Default Still there!

well i got the new chain tensioners put in, and got everything together, and low and behold the tick is STILL there. And when i went to drive the car, the same exact thing happened. The car runs great, no miss or anything, occasionally backfires.. but then smoothens out and idles good and runs good.. then the tick gets loud and car shuts off. I have no idea what it could be. Its ONLY the passenger side.. need help

Cam Phasers? Not sure if the 2V was setup the same as the 3V. My 3V F-150 Ticked from day one, hated it so much I got rid of it as soon as I could.

Thanks for the reply- the 2v does not have Phasers. Just simple sprockets
