Default need help with xpipe / headers

I have SLP LM1's on my stang right now. I have a stock h-pipe and stock headers. I am thinking of getting an SLP x-pipe and wasnt sure on the headers. I am thinking of getting shorty hearders right now just because of the price differential. Can someone give me some suggestions of what would work well with this setup.

thanks

Matt

Well, the problem with LT headers on our Mustangs is that once they're in, you have to loosen one side completly to get the tranny out. So it makes for a bitch to change the clutch. But LT headers are the best flowing and best performing headers you will get for the 4.6. On the other hand, shorties you can install and they wont be in the way of the tranny. Stock exhaust manifolds are considered shorties. But shorties hardly outflow the stock manifolds. They are better than stock... dont get me wrong. Any thing is better than stockers, but not by much.

Now, after you have chosen the headers that are right for you, you have to pick a mid pipe. If you do get the shorties then you can still utilize the stock H pipe or just buy a new one of your choice but make sure you annotate to the dealer that you still have shortie headers (or stock). If you get the LT headers then you will need a Shortie X or H pipe, which ever you want. If you get the mid pipe for shorties when you have LT headers, then it will be too long and wont fit.

So just make sure you buy the right parts the first time around.

You obviously spared no expense on your current mods. If you want the best bang for your buck, buy LT's. If you are thinking about shorties because they are cheaper, you may as well stick with the stocks. The power you will gain will not be worth time and energy of the install.

This month's Modified Mustangs magazine has a pretty informative article on headers. You should pick it up.

alright i guess i will save up for the LT's. It won't really matter until springtime anyways so i should have plenty of money by then. The SLP x-pipe is actually made to fit LT's or shorty headers. It has a part which you can remove to fit LT's or you can keep it on and it fits stock/shorty.

The only thing I'll add is that Bassani's mid-length headers are separate pipes that fit into one collector. And no need for a shorty x-pipe
