Hello all,
First off I'd like to apologize my lack of mechanical expertise, however I am looking at learning more about cars/engines by working on mine and getting a better understanding of how parts work / alter the personality of a car. A little backstory first; 2 years ago I bought my first car, a 1999 Mustang gt, manual. Since buying it i have installed the Hurst short throw (i hate it) a full BBK exhaust, lowered it by 2 inches and put on a larger throttle body and bbk CAI. I love my car but seeing as I've recently graduated university and have lots of money to spend I feel its time to give my old 2V some new life!
I'm not too sure what kind of power level is manageable for this platform, but I'm thinking that around 500-550rwhp is the goal I'm trying to reach; plus or minus. I like the tork-tech kits but I want to make sure my engine isn't going to blow the first pull i make, I'm just wondering what kind of parts i should be investing into to make these power levels realistic. Recently I've been looking at some trick-flow twisted 195 heads (Link) and I see that it states 8000+ RPM Ranges, while that is a bit more than i would consider, would something like 7000 be reasonable with a blower? would i be able to make power that high up without it being gutless on the low-end, and does that high of an RPM require any further mods, valve springs, retainers etc.
I understand that my lack of mechanical knowledge makes this challenging but I am wanting to learn and advance my understandings of this, If someone could be so kind as to help out with the expectations and mods I would owe you a lifetime. (and before its mentioned, i understand the great cost this is going to be, however i have allocated a significant amount of money to this project and am willing to spend the money for quality parts)
Thank you!
