Draining coolant on 4.6 2V engine
Does anyone know how much additional coolant will drain from removing the drain plugs on the block after the rest of the system has been drained from the lower radiator hose?
Just curious after a bad experience with a local auto repair shop. I won't go into details, just take my word for it, I got screwed yesterday at the shop. Thanks |
16 Quarts total, so measure what you took out, then do the math...

It's annoying how that infographic uses a gallon jug shape to count quarts.

Actually, the coolant capacity of the 4.6L 2V engine in the 2003 is 14 quarts, what you posted is for the 4V engine. That doesn't help me anyway, since I wasn't there when the shop flushed and drained the cooling system, and I have reasons to believe they didn't know how much coolant was drained out of it.
That's why I posted my question as I did to start with. Thanks for the reply, anyway. |
It says 2 and 4 valve engine, so...
Then it's 11.8 quarts V6, 12.7qt GT, read elsewhere... |
realistically they just drained and filled the radiator. If using an actual "flush" machine (if its similar to the one i have in my shop) it pushes roughly 4 gallons through
