It is back on the rack now. I'm wasn't able to stop on my way to work to do a progress check and he wasn't able to answer my call (he stays busy). I'm not going to accept it back from him until it's right. I guess I could go to the transmission guys shop and ask him if he adjusted load / preload or if he has it shimmed correctly. I was told you want it as close to 0.0 as possible? Is this accurate? I just don't want to offend them or **** them off since they are ultimately the hands fixing my ride. Kind of like "don't bite the hand that feeds you". Ugghhhhh...... all of this just for a new clutch. I didn't realize how much I love this car until now.....

They are correct, I went over my notes on this transmission and I have between 0-.003" written in. Generally anytime you replace the bearings, input shaft or front bearing retainer you need to reshim that font bearing cup. Just because of inconsistencies in the machining process.

I am Murphy's Law in action..... if something is going to go bad or if **** is gonna happen...... it's gonna happen to me! Never fails. The transmission was not problematic though until he touched it. Doesn't make sense for it to be fine and now all of a sudden it's ****ting the bucket. Oh well..... nothing I can do at this point except wait until the fella calls me to say that it's fixed.

Update:
Car is back together and driving. I do have a rattling exhaust pipe now which I'm not sure how that happened. Exhaust is dumped behind rear axle, and is now knocking against the frame on take off or when the car flexes turning into a driveway or over large bumps.

A bad bearing that was overlooked in the transmission and one of the stops on the short throw shifter was messed up from what I was told. I'm not sure how this was "overlooked" but he said that a bearing had basically come apart. I'm still not 100% satisfied so I'm having a mustang guru look at it Monday. May change out the shifter as well. Something isn't adjusted quite right. Thankfully all of the symptoms are gone but the dumped exhaust is now rattling on the frame. This is being looked at Monday. 5th gear is a little funky to get in and reverse was a bit wonky. Gotta go into 5th then down into reverse. No grinding or lock out. I'd say it's 90% better than what it was but still not perfect. I'm just glad that it's back on the road and able to be driven. I can fine tune it over the coming weeks.
