Lightining motor in a GT?????

I was talking to a guy and he said he was going to do a Ford lightining swap into his gt? Is this even possible and if so what year is this possible on?? Is the ford lightining a 5.4L??? I have a 2004 40th Ann GT and am looking for more power. My goal is between 400-500 rear wheel horse power. I make around $7200 a month tax free so money not being an issue, what is the easiest way to reach this goal?? Car is bone stock right now.

The Lightning motor is a 5.4 supercharged. You could definitely swap one into a mustang. If you want some power you should just slap on a supercharger on to your motor, its a lot less hassle than a motor swap. With some new top end parts and a good tune you could crank out around 400 horse no problem.

ha ha thats a problem. I already have three cars. I really don't need them. I just like cars alot. I don't think I am biased at all when it comes to them.:D

The main thing to consider is the intake manifold size. The engine block is roughly the same size as yours but the intake is really tall. You're looking at a really big cowl hood at best. The 2000 Cobra R has a 5.4 in it but I would suggest looking at the intake which is much lower than a Lightnings. Even the R has a bit of rise to the hood without a supercharger.

so the motor will bolt right up?? Its not something I am really looking at doing. I just thought it would be a hell of alot of work. I'm looking to twin turbo my car. I found a kit for a little over $7,000. Also fallstar I see from your sig you are supercharged. What kind of 1/4 mile times are you posting??

Honestly, I haven't bested a 13.2 @110 or 13.1@109. I am hoping for mid to low 12s or even high 11s with gears/slicks and mid-length headers. Also bumping the timing up since I fixed some intercooler issues. I've got some good plans for the car over the winter.

those are respectable times. And with those traps you should have no problems seeing 12's. Good luck

yeah i wouldn't waste my time on that. i would just work your engine now and put some kind of FI on it and you'll be happy.

Kenne bell 2.2, forged internals, and all the goodies to go with it and lay down 600 RWHP. If you got the money then why not. Or if you want to lay down great 1/4 mile times then get a procharger.
