Help me do a burn out the right way

RE: Help me do a burn out the right way
I stalled mine the first time trying to do a burnout at the track.
Don't use the parking brake, it only pulls the rear calipers closed, making it tougher for you to do your burnout.
Get some water under the tires until you get better at doing burnouts... makes it much easier to do.
I pull to the burnout box, put it in second, rev it to 3500ish, drop the clutch push the gas in some (not to the floor, although you could), and move my other foot to the brake and press it down hard enough to stop the car, then just lighten up on the brake and adjust the gas till you're at 4000 RPM or so... stay there for a couple seconds, let go of the brake, let the car start moving and push the clutch in and let off the gas at the same time. The car will usually lunge forward a little... don't need to worry about staying perfectly still too much.
You can do a burnout in first too, you'll find it harder to stall it this way because of the gearing advantage. Better to do it in second though.
Edit: If the rear starts sliding sideways a little don't worry about it too much, adjust your steering while still doing your burnout so it will straighten out, if you end up going sideways pretty far stop your burnout.
Also, the traction control will really screw you up, be sure to turn that off before you try a burnout if you have it

Just put your heel firmly on the brake, your toe on the gas, rev it up and pop the clutch. This allows you to throw it into 2nd and continue the burnout if you want to PLUS you wont stall out when you release the gas because ur foot will be covering the clutch.

thanks for the great info. I just researched a line lock so I am definately getting one of those. It looks so much easier.

on my 97gt I just rev to about 2500/3000 rpm and let off the clutch al ittle quicker than usual. cut right loose. but I support the point it's a waste of gas an rubber. Not to mention it does put some wear into the clutch. Better puttin the gas into getting where you are going OR doin that 1/4 mile time.

once you get to know your car you can just power brake it while crawling in first gear, and at a stand still rev it and slip the clutch so you dont drop the clutch, cuz that not really that good when your doing it all the time.

lol yea no e-brake on rear wheel drive cars. Im thinking about getting a line lock or roll control. Do you guys think its worth it for just goin to the track once in a while? I mean its not that expensive and it would be cool to have.
