Default Help me do a burn out the right way

I know I'm a total newbie at this so don't rag on me to hard. I'm coming from a boosted front wheel drive civic to a rear wheel drive car. Ok this is what I do....................... I pull the parking brake up. Push in the clutch, rev the motor, semi quickly release the clutch as I apply the gas and move my clutch foot onto the brake fast as hell before the car lunges forward while still applying the gas. Problem is I have only got this to work twice and normally the car will turn sides ways a little and its seems rough on the brakes. 99% of the time the car will just stall. Its funny because my buddy has an 05 GTO and we had been planning to get some burnouts because I wanted to make a video. So we found a nice spot out at the lake to film away from civilization to ensure safety. Anyway, I did a practice burn out before we started filming and I got a good one the first time I tried. Once the camera stared filming though I could'nt perform. Kinda like an old man without viagra. So help me out. Whats the right way to do a burn out in my manual GT???????

Bottom line.....Why? Just a stupid waste of gas and rubber. That is kid stuff.. Take it to a track and learn how to race.

Well, it helps to practice before you hit the track and embarass yourself like I already have. Hence the "how to do it the right way topic", not the "why not to do it topic". Oh and I have alot of track experience just not with my mustang. Check out my sig. Anyway thanks for your unhelpful, uninformative reply. By the way I'm 28 and very mature far from a child. I will leave it at that. Anyone have any helpful information???

If you are doing a burnout at the track, then you need front brake locks. Sorry I misread your original post. But, if you have track experience, you should have already known that.

ok. I have alot of track experience with my boosted front wheel drive civic si. Not my rear wheel drive mustang or any rear wheel drive car for that matter. Hence the original post again. I have heard of brake locks. Where can I get these at??

OK, you now have a rear wheel driven Mustang, Throw all out of the information you have with your civic. Regarding the front brake lock for burnout, just google it.

No need to pull the ebrake since the car is rear wheel drive. That ebrake thing is for front wheel drive so it locks the rear wheels.

You don't need the ebrake. Make sure that you have TRACTION CONTROl turned OFF. It may be what is preventing you from doing it properly. But your idea is right: rev it to 3k rpm or so and then quickly take your left foot off the clutch and slam it on the brake. Works fine for me.

I have heard people say they do their burnouts in 2nd because they have more play with the throttle without hitting the redline. Anyone do this, or is it 1st gear for everyone?

Ok, no e-brake since in only locks the back and thoses are the tires you want to spin. Just step on the brake drop the clutch at a good RPM and apply more/less brake when you need to. It's really simple.
