Usually a rotten smell is a sign that your catalytic converters are plugged or on their way to being completely plugged.

Also, I remember from my GT, the exhaust had a distinct odor to it whenever I ran up to redline, it wasn't rotten eggs or anything though.

My Cobra is the same way, just not quite as stinky as my GT was

Not true..... I worked in a shop a while back and delivered all different makes of cars to dealers etc. Of course I wasnt easy on any of those cars. Most of them were newer cars if not brand new. When putting that pedal to the floor and driving those cars to the max, just about all of them had that smell. I dont think the cats were bad in all of them. Its a normal thing.

But there is a huge difference between the cats getting heated up & having an odor; being plugged and smelling like rotten eggs.

My 02 GT never smelled like rotten eggs, it almost had a plastic odor to it. So does my buddies 04 GT, but it's nothing like rotten eggs.
