Hello all...My honda civic finally let go for the 3rd time last week(first time was water sucking into the engine, second time was cracked ringlands from turbo and third time spun a rod bearing) and after car shopping i got a '00 gt 5-speed. I am very pleased with the GT but I'm not very knowledgable about the 4.6liter. I have been doing a little research and I am planning on getting a different rear end gear. But I want to know what to add to get a relitively reliable 300rwhp out of the motor. Would cams, intake, long tubes and the exhaust get me to the mark? Any suggestions on brands? Or any cam profiles That would get me to 300rwhp without making the car unreliable. I have done tons of mods to hondas and none to mustangs so bear with me while i learn.

Thanks

easiest way is to just slap a bottle on it and you'll be well over 300RWHP. and yes, it will run safely. no, it will not blow up your engine.

Getting the magical 300+ RWHP (if that's what you're looking for) gets very expensive. It will take full exhaust and cams, at the very least. That should get you in the high 290's.

Agreed...It will get expensive and it takes quite some work. With all the bolt ons you may boost the RW up to around 260. But with P&P heads, a nice set of cams and a magnificent tune, you should be looking at around 290-300rwhp. For a GT that's really really good.

spend $600 bucks for 100 shot and your over 300 whp. n20 will flow better with better exhaust and intake mods to let it breathe better etc.

Dark, what color are you painting those wheels? Is that black or gun metal? Good luck on the touch up once you have to change tires! LOL

How goes the 5.4 build?

I couldn't think of any mustang related names so i just use the one that i use everywhere.

Nah, i am just tired of fwd and the sound of the 1.6liter engine. I love the way a 4.6 sounds.

as far as getting power from certain mods, i was wondering if someone could link some dynos of cams or exhaust systems or some other mods. also, what does a 300rwhp mustang run in the quarter typically?
