Another Person Asking About Gears...
From what I've heard, the best ALL AROUND gear for a GT is the 3:73. My car is mostly driven on the street with with aftermarket wheels for which are the exact same size and width as my stocks with an aftermarket set of tires (275/40ZR17). I want my car to be more of a street animal than a track runner. So would the 4:10 be better for my set up or should I just play it safe with the 3:73.
This one goes out to all the guys with GT's that have a 4:10 or larger number (smaller size) gear!!!

Really? I just don't want the gear to hurt me too much at higher speeds in the higher gears if I do happen to go to the track though, because I know I don't have the power to keep that 4:10 going at speeds like that. But other than that, the 4:10 will help me a lot on the street 0-60?

4.10 is the best all around gear. period. get 4.10 whether you drive on the highway or not.

your top end isn't going to be affected that much. what are people here getting to? like 145 with 4.10s? just get them 4.10s. if you get something else, you'll regret not going with the 4.10s later. trust me...

Had 3.73's and they were great as compared to the stock 3.27's. When I grenaded my rear end, I replaced with an Eaton posi and 4.10's and there was no looking back. I highly recommend the 4.10's, they are...oh so nice.

No No, I don't want to max out my car with the gears. I'm talking on the track when your fully excellerating in the higher gears, like 3rd and 4th. A lot of guys have told me that in some cases your ET's will suffer if you don't have sufficent power to keep the gear moving. It's going to be a street car mostly and gas milage isn't an issue. So the 4:10's are the real deal then?

I had 4.30's in my 02 GT and let me tell you, even swapping my 4.10's for 4.30's was a significant difference, getting to drive my buddies 04 GT made me realize what a turd that car was with stock gearing.
